Columbus Model 2, updated 06.03.2025
Timepieces > A - I > Columbus
What I know so far:
Columbus Watch Company founded by Dietrich Gruen on December 22, 1874 in Columbus, Ohio.
From 1894 until 1903, the company produced watches under the names Columbus Watch Company and New Columbus Watch Company.
In 1903, the Columbus Watch Company was sold to the Studebakers and became the newly formed South Bend Watch Company.
The serial number 139000 would make it a built date between 1889 and 1890.
It is a model 2 movement, size 18s in a hunting case, and setting with lever.
There is some corrosion inside the case which needs to be addressed and a new bow which matches the colour of the case would be nice.
The mainspring is tired and I try to get a new one.

New bow attached, new spring installed, up and running again.
