August 2020, I made a lever style tailstock out of the Sherline tailstock.

May 2019, I was not happy with the Sherline W.R. Smith T-Rest, as it is not foldable. There is a selfmade foldable/flip-over version mentioned on the Sherline page: https://www.sherline.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/002_cw_tip.pdf

My solution for this problem uses most of the original Sherline T-Rest parts. I only made a new pedestal base and pedestal.

December 2015 - One thing which is missing on the Sherline is the ability to reverse the motor direction. Sherline provides a modification instruction sheet on their website. I bought myself the needed switch an made the modification. Now I can start thinking about turning some balance staffs in the future.

August 2014 - as I have already a Sherline lathe and mill and not wanting to start with a different brand for a watch makers lathe I bought an other lathe from Sherline but a short metric 4100 model. This will be used solely with WW collets and probably mostly with hand gravers. This is also the reason to modify the hand wheel so that I can easily take off the tailstock to get it out of the way.
