How to make "blueprint" style pictures, updated 12.08.2020

CGI
As I like the blueprint style drawings I started to look for tutorials on how to make them. A big thank you for all the tutorial information and videos on the internet. There are countless possibilities on how to do it but here is my result. I have found my workflow with the software I use on a standard basis. I use Affinity Photo to do the job.
I open the original image in Affinity Photo. Then I will place a rectangle over the image and fill it with a blue color (i used one mentioned in a video #0055A3) with some noise added. After that, I will duplicate the background layer and put it over the blue color layer. If your image is in color you need to alter this layer to black & white. This can be done with an adjustment layer. The next step is to use the filter, "Detect Edges". This will alter the layer to white on black which can be altered into white on blue using the layer mode from Normal to Screen. As the last step, I export the image.
Following some screenshot as an example in chronological order.
